Flemingsberg is one of the Stockholm region’s most exciting areas. Located just south of Stockholm City, with excellent transport links and fantastic nature, you have five universities, a university hospital and a burgeoning business cluster. And everything within walking distance of each other.
Campus Flemingsberg is a growing interdisciplinary campus, currently the eighth largest hub for higher education in Sweden with some 17,000 students. Here you’ll find:
- Södertörn University offering several interdisciplinary courses, teacher training and also police training, all focused on new thinking and a passion for discovery.
- Karolinska Institutet where students include prospective physiotherapists, dentists and nurses; and successful research in Alzheimer’s, cell therapy and regenerative medicine.
- The Royal Institute of Technology’s School of Technology and Health that offers Bachelor’s and Master’s courses focusing on the crossover between technology and medicine. Research centers on medical technologies, logistics, design and ergonomics.
- The Red Cross University College that offers training courses for nurses and specialized nurses, as well as healthcare science-based research with a global perspective. The college recently moved to the campus in the newly constructed Technology and Health building together with KTH.
In 2017, Södertörn University will expand police training and Karolinska Institutet to expand its research activities.
Stockholm University College of Music Education is the latest addition in the line of colleges. SMI educates music teachers and logonomists, and offers independent courses with both artistic and didactic focus.
Flemingsberg is therefore a key element of Stockholm’s attractiveness as a university city. The area is also strengthened by Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, which is one of Europe’s largest university hospitals. Together with Karolinska Institutet, the hospital has become an internationally respected center of medical excellence. Proximity to the Campus area supports increased co-operation between academics and the hospital with the aim of realizing synergies between healthcare, training, research and innovation.
World-class research is conducted in this multifaceted academic environment, and Campus Flemingsberg has evolved into one of northern Europe’s most important hubs for Life Sciences. Furthermore, we are part of Stockholm Life.
On the Campus Area there is currently an extensive building program underway, including new premises for research, training and healthcare, which creates excellent future potential for Flemingsberg to be an engine for knowledge-intensive businesses south of Stockholm.
