Mando Group AB won the tender for specialized treatment of eating disorders throughout the Stockholm County Council. A paradigm shift that will, above all, benefit patients, says Mando´s founder and CEO, Dr Cecilia Bergh.
The Mandometer treatment has been developed in co-operation with the Karolinska Institute and the results have been extensively published. More than 1,500 patients have been successfully treated during a 25-year period. Patients, parents and their relatives like the treatment, a large number of media reports and newspaper articles testify to its effectiveness is restoring eating behaviour, body weight, and the physical and mental health of the patients.
Cecilia Bergh, co-founder and CEO of Mando Group AB.
“Initially, eating disorders were believed not to be about eating behaviour and weight; rather, they tended to be blamed on emotions and complex psychiatric conditions from which you could never recover. Instead, patients should be treated through conversations and psychoactive drugs. It has taken us 25 years to change this: with the Mandometer treatment, two patients can be freed from their symptoms every week,” says Bergh.
“When it is scientifically proven that a new treatment is cost effective, it should replace older approaches. To date, the Mandometer clinics have saved billions of Swedish crowns for the community by reducing costs for local authorities, social insurance, administration, schools, and employers. After 25 years, the treatment is finally getting the exposure it deserves. The Stockholm County Council has decided that the more effective treatment should replace conventional care that has proven ineffective over a considerable period of time,” says Bergh.
The contract for specialized eating disorders care, including binge eating disorders, on behalf of the Stockholm County Council runs from 1 January, 2019 to 31 December, 2023.
