Flemingsberg is Growing – A Sustainable and Attractive Neighbourhood in the Making
Flemingsberg is currently undergoing a phase of rapid development, where new rental housing and apartments are helping to strengthen the area’s attractiveness as a residential, education and research hub in southern Greater Stockholm. The expansion of housing is an important part of the long-term development of Campus Flemingsberg and the surrounding area.
One of the projects is Studenten 1, developed by Huge Bostäder AB, where 210 rental apartments are being built along Hälsovägen, 81 of which are student apartments. The block will also include five retail units and a preschool with space for 160 children. The first apartments in the project have already been occupied, and additional tenants are moving in gradually.
At the same time, ByggVesta AB, together with EQT Real Estate, is developing the Blick Living project, which will include around 800 new apartments for students, researchers and young professionals. In addition to housing, plans include a new public square, shared study and meeting spaces, and service facilities that will contribute to a more vibrant campus area.
According to Pernilla Boström, COO of the Flemingsberg Science Foundation, housing development plays a crucial role in the development of the campus area.
– When more people live in close proximity to the campus, life in the area continues even after office hours. This creates the dynamism and continuity required for Flemingsberg to grow as a modern and attractive knowledge hub.
The investment in new rental housing will also help shape Flemingsberg’s long-term identity.
– The development of new rental housing contributes to a more diverse and inclusive housing market and strengthens Flemingsberg’s development as an open, urban and long-term sustainable district.
By combining housing with services, meeting places and proximity to the campus, Flemingsberg continues to develop into a more vibrant and cohesive urban district.
