Kick-off Cluster Engine Life Science Flemingsberg!

At the end of last year Flemingsberg Science Foundation was granted funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the project Cluster Engine Life Science Flemingsberg, which aims to strengthen the growth and establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the life science sector in the Stockholm region. Recently, it was time for the official launch – and what a grand launch it was!

More than 130 engaged participants gathered at Novum Forskningspark to celebrate the project – from researchers and companies to investors and politicians from Flemingsberg, Hagastaden and Uppsala. It was a fantastic evening filled with lively mingling, networking spirit, delicious food, good drinks, and live music. CEO Johnny Högberg marked the official start by cutting the traditional inauguration ribbon, and also spoke about the significance of Flemingsberg now taking a major step towards establishing itself as a key player in life science.

As part of the project, which runs from 2025 to 2027, the foundation’s life science team will work on creating activities, networking opportunities, and platforms for sustainable collaboration – all contributing to the long-term development of the life science sector. The project is led by Cluster Manager Natasha Bank. She is eagerly looking forward to developing concrete initiatives that will strengthen innovation and growth in the area, which will also lay the foundation for Flemingsberg to become a leading international cluster:

“We are so happy that so many came not only to celebrate the launch of the project, but also to celebrate and continue strengthening Swedish life science together. It truly shows the power of collaboration and the strong will to keep building the health innovations of the future – both in Stockholm and across regions. In Flemingsberg, there is a unique collaboration between academia and industry, with great potential to grow into something even bigger. That’s what we want to enable through this project.”

It is with great pride and joy we would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who came and made the official launch a spectacular start to the project – and this is only the beginning! Ahead lies countless opportunities for all of you who want to be part of shaping the future of life science in Flemingsberg. She’s Building Bridges Between People and Place – Meet Karin, the Placemaker Behind the Future of Flemingsberg

Karin Lekberg is paving the way for the Flemingsberg of the future — a place where knowledge and creativity meet. She envisions a vibrant area full of culture, evening and nightlife, and a natural meeting place for both students and creators. But when the goal feels far away, it’s about starting where you are — creating life and activity here and now, and above all, building on the stories that already exist, allowing the place to grow into its future.
