ATMP Sweden – now also in Flemingsberg!

The ATMP Sweden association carries out dedicated work focused on national coordination and communication to accelerate the development, accessibility, and implementation of advanced therapies (ATMP). And now they also have an office space at Novum Labs! From here, Henrik Simonsson, Communications and Operative Lead, can work on the association’s plans to take its operations to even more meaningful heights.

ATMP Sweden has been active since 2018, originally launched as a project driven by the need for national coordination and communication between the public and private sectors in the ATMP field. Since 2023, they are a non-profit member association with around 240 members, including researchers, organizations, and individuals. Their mission remains the same, and the association is now focused on expanding opportunities for its members.

“We are working to develop our offering and the concrete benefits that come with being a member. The goal is to create both new and improved opportunities for the Swedish ATMP ecosystem,” says Henrik Simonsson.

Henrik goes on to describe the strong commitment and interest in the field’s development and future. The association aims to support this even further — for example by enhancing the content of the annual ATMP conference, which attracts several hundred participants. They are also expanding their offerings with member discounts, a community platform, and webinars.

“We’re introducing new features at the next conference, including more and different networking opportunities for both participating organizations and individuals. The ambition is to set a new standard that enables larger and even higher-quality conferences in the future. We’re planning an exciting program that we’ll be sharing soon. At the same time, we’re launching new community initiatives, aiming to create a platform where both members and collaborators can meet and engage in different constellations. We’ve also recently started hosting webinars; the idea is to offer broad opportunities to learn from experts and researchers working in various areas of ATMP development, or from patients who have undergone ATMP treatments. Our goal is to host these monthly moving forward, in order to regularly highlight the Swedish ecosystem and its key players.”

Currently, Henrik works largely remotely, splitting his time between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Having a physical office space at Novum Labs where he can occasionally touch down is something he sees as a great addition to his work.

“In-person meetings are incredibly important for building relationships and collaborations. It also allows for closer communication with our member organizations based here in Flemingsberg. You can feel the excitement about the developments in this area, and being part of this pioneering spirit as we continue to grow our operations is something I see as very positive.”

At the Flemingsberg Science Foundation, we warmly welcome ATMP Sweden to Flemingsberg and Novum Labs!
