The Flemingsberg Science Foundation welcomes Angela Hoyer as the new Networks and Event Manager

With a background as a researcher at Karolinska Institutet and experience from academia, industry, and networking, Angela Hoyer, the new Networks and Event Manager at the Flemingsberg Science Foundation, is passionate about developing the life science sector. In her new role, Angela looks forward to creating meeting places where collaborations can grow, while also contributing to Flemingsberg’s continued development as a strong international hub for research and innovation.

Tell us a little about yourself, Angela.
I earned my PhD at Karolinska Institutet, where my research focused on asthma development in young children. I also worked centrally at KI in laboratory safety and education, and I was a volunteer at the career fair CHaSE, responsible for corporate relations and marketing. In addition, I gained industry experience through a role in Medical Affairs at Sanofi. Altogether, these experiences have given me a broad understanding of the life science sector – from research and education to industry perspectives and networking.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I enjoy working with and for people, and life science is a great passion of mine. It’s incredibly inspiring to see the companies that are here and how they contribute to better health for all. As Networks and Event Manager, I look forward to building networks, organizing events, and creating meeting places where ideas and collaborations can flourish. Being able to contribute in this way feels not just like a job, but like something I truly care about.

What are your thoughts on Flemingsberg, now and in the future?
I completed my doctorate in Solna and followed the development of the life science community there – I saw new buildings rise and took part in various events. To now be part of Flemingsberg myself and contribute directly to the area’s continued growth feels very inspiring. Flemingsberg has great potential, and I hope to help develop a strong, internationally recognized life science community in Stockholm, where more people can discover and benefit from the opportunities here.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love being out in nature and walking by the water. I sing in a choir, which brings me joy and energy. Spending time with my family also means a lot to me.

Angela Hoyer will be working in the foundation’s ERDF-funded project Life Science Cluster Flemingsberg, which aims to strengthen the growth and establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the life science sector in the Stockholm region.

Contact Angela if you would like to know more about the project, as well as the events and networking opportunities currently available in Flemingsberg!
