Tramway South brought forward by four years
After negotiations between Huddinge municipality, Stockholm city and Stockholm region, it has been decided that the start of the project for Tramway south, to be drawn from Flemingsberg via Kungens kurva, Skärholmen and on to Älvsjö, will be scheduled for four years.
– Very positive news for the whole of southern Stockholm. This will enable new workplaces and housing, and we will get started with our planned development projects in Flemingsbergsdalen, Kungens kurva and Vårby Udde, says Daniel Dronjak (M), chairman of the municipal council in Huddinge. Tramway south is part of the Swedish negotiation and was signed in 2017. The project start was scheduled for 2024, but will now start as early as 2020. This means that the planning of the project is premeditated, so that tram traffic can start earlier. The project as a whole is expected to take ten years.
– With an improved public transport on the cross, we tie together the region as well as the regional city centers Flemingsberg and Kungens kurva, which will grow with thousands of housing and jobs, says Malin Danielsson (L), municipal council responsible for The agreement was signed by Anna König Jerlmyr (M), Stockholm City Mayor, Daniel Dronjak (M), Huddinge Municipality Chairman, Kristoffer Tamsons (M), Stockholm Regional Council and Tomas Eriksson (MP), Environment and Public Transport Region.
