Major interest in Flemingsberg Science ideas competition

This year, Flemingsberg Science is contributing to the national business plan competition Venture Cup with its own prize: the Flemingsberg Science Award, which celebrates ideas from Flemingsberg that contribute to a better world.

Flemingsberg Science Award is part of Venture Cup IDEA. The winner can look forward to prize money of SEK 5,000 and a free place at Flemingsberg’s Science Innovation hub for three months.

The last day for submissions was November 7, and Venture Cup IDEA attracted nearly 1,000 entries from all over Sweden.

“We’ve now gone through each entry connected to Flemingsberg and we’re delighted to have seen so many great ideas. The next step is to evaluate entries together with Venture Cup,” says Björn Varnestig, CEO, Flemingsberg Science.

The prize is intended to encourage more students, workers and Flemingsberg residents to take the step to developing their business ideas. The hope is that the ideas will contribute to addressing societal challenges such as climate change, demographic issues, mental health and growing inequality.

Flemingsberg Science Award will be awarded on December 11, in conjunction with the Venture Cup Top 20 – Region East award ceremony.

“Soon we can meet again IRL”

Since the Covid outbreak, our work has been characterised by video meetings, especially in our various focus groups. Success has exceeded expectations, thanks to the fact that the approximately 70 people who are involved in the groups had time to get to know one other and the issues even before the pandemic. But we are really looking forward to being able to meet again IRL, and hopefully soon – it is so much more enjoyable!

XNK Therapeutics lays the groundwork for GMP facility in Flemingsberg

"Flemingsberg is the place in the world you want to be if you work with NK cells. There is a strong research facility here with a world-leading research group and proximity to a clinic that really knows NK cells. We recently started the construction of a new GMP facility with an associated research laboratory of 350 square meters for our NK cell therapy. The new facility is being built at Novum in Flemingsberg and, once the facility is completed in 2022, it will give us complete control over the entire development chain."
