What’s happening in Flemingsberg?

2023 is coming to an end, and like many other organizations, we at the foundation are making plans and gearing up for 2024 while also aiming to end the year on a high note. We sense that the question of what’s happening in Flemingsberg is taking on an increasingly positive tone. The development of the regional city center in Flemingsberg, coupled with a growing multi-university campus, constitutes an unbeatable mix. We at the foundation are proud and delighted to be part of this development.

We have a strategic goal for the period 2022-2025 that is focused on increasing the rate of establishment, creating an internationally competitive innovation environment, and establishing testbeds for urban societal challenges. How have we succeeded? During the year we have launched Innovation Station Flemingsberg in collaboration with Södertörn University, a new coworking space, innovation hub, and meeting place on campus that facilitates the development of cultural and creative industries in Flemingsberg.

2023 is also the year in which we initiated a collaboration project with CIMED (Center for Innovative Medicine) with the goal of enabling more companies to collaborate with and benefit from the unique research infrastructures on campus. This, of course, provides an establishment opportunity but also a chance to create an even better innovation environment for companies already present on campus and part of the Flemingsberg Business Community.

During the year, Vinnova launched Impact Innovation, Sweden’s innovation initiative for the 2030s. The foundation has had discussions with IQ Samhällsbyggnad, resulting in the foundation being part of the application for Shift2Access. If the program is approved in early 2024, there are excellent opportunities to realize ideas in the field of testbeds.

This year was also the year when we increased visibility. This fall, our team was reinforced by the communicator Josefine Bresmar, who, in a fantastic way, helps us communicate everything that is happening in Flemingsberg.

The transition to 2024 feels very exciting, where we continue to focus on our strategic goals but also have the opportunity to accelerate even more!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Best wishes from Flemingsberg Science Foundation

Steps shaping innovation and growth – Natasha Bank sums up the first year of Life Science Cluster Flemingsberg

A future life science cluster isn’t built in a year – but with a solid foundation and the courage to act, important steps can be taken along the way. In February 2025, we launched Life Science Cluster Flemingsberg: a multifaceted project with powerful, interconnected ambitions – to enable Flemingsberg’s life science cluster to reach its full potential by collaboration and creating the right conditions for the establishment and growth of those who drive innovation – small and medium-sized enterprises – and, in doing so, contribute to the Stockholm region’s leading position within the sector.
