Novum – More Than a Place

The Park and the real estate company Hemsö have entered into a collaboration which means Novum Research Park in Flemingsberg will offer a first-class coworking environment for researchers, innovators, and creative minds who want to become part of a growing Life Science cluster. At the same time, the Flemingsberg Science Foundation is launching a film about Novum—playful and with a touch of drama.

Novum is a building with a total of around 60,000 square meters of office, event, and laboratory space in the heart of Campus Flemingsberg, just a stone’s throw from the world’s fifth-best hospital and the Karolinska Institute. Now the opportunities for more collaborations, new innovations, and establishments are expanding.

“The need for flexible and inspiring work environments is growing, especially in research-driven industries. The Park Novum will provide exactly that, alongside our existing Novum Labs. The Park has a unique ability to build community and foster collaboration between different players, attracting talent and driving innovation forward,” says Mathias Heidmark, Hemsö Fastigheter.

Flemingsberg has long been a place people pass through. But now it is no longer just a place on the way—it is a place on the move. With the Flemingsberg Science Foundation’s mission to create new, attractive innovation environments and meeting places in Flemingsberg, the collaboration between the foundation, The Park, and Hemsö has resulted in a major success for the local ecosystem.

“Flemingsberg is part of Stockholm’s dynamic Life Science scene, and together with other players we want to create an environment that strengthens the companies here and builds bridges to other innovation hubs in Sweden and internationally,” says Mikael Ahlström, founder and CEO of The Park.

A major contributing factor to The Park’s establishment is the determined effort within the foundation’s ERDF project, which aims to strengthen the Life Science cluster for small and medium-sized enterprises in the Stockholm region.

“For me, this is about opening doors—to collaboration, to talent, and to new ideas. This is more than a coworking initiative—it’s a cultural shift. By bringing researchers, entrepreneurs, and creative forces together in the same environment, we create fertile ground for collaborations that can lead to new establishments and innovations that put Flemingsberg on the world map,” says Natasha Bank, Cluster Manager, Flemingsberg Science Foundation.

Now the new Novum film is being launched. The place deserves a grand commercial, a trailer that thunders about all the exciting progress being made, a place where ideas become reality. But it is not a backdrop for a glossy presentation film, so we concluded that perhaps it’s enough to simply say: Welcome to Novum. Come here, experience the environment, and create your own impression of what’s happening inside these walls.
