New Silicon Valley Hub for Press Start Flemingsberg

Press Start, a GameTech initiative based in Flemingsberg, is expanding its international reach by establishing a presence and building new connections in Silicon Valley. This development is made possible primarily through our Cluster Manager, Leslie Alfredsson, who has been admitted to study at Stanford University this summer.

During her time at Stanford, Leslie will not only deepen her expertise but also actively work to build relationships and strengthen collaborations with organizations operating within GameTech and related industries.

“We believe in practicing what we preach. Our mission is to provide our studios and startups with the conditions they need to succeed globally. That requires us to continuously develop ourselves, build world-class programs, networks, and relationships. Studying at Stanford University and establishing a presence in Silicon Valley is therefore a strategic step for Press Start. It strengthens our ability to build bridges between Flemingsberg, our GameTech companies, and one of the world’s leading ecosystems for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship,” says Leslie Alfredsson, Cluster Manager and Head of Press Start.

At the same time, we are launching a long-term initiative to connect with GameTech companies, organizations, and individuals in Silicon Valley. The goal is to create meaningful collaborations where knowledge, ideas, and opportunities flow in both directions.

Flemingsberg Meets Silicon Valley

Through our connection with Nordic Innovation House, a global innovation hub that helps Nordic startups connect with leading technology ecosystems, we also gain access to a physical base in Silicon Valley.

“Leslie’s presence in Silicon Valley, together with our membership in Nordic Innovation House, means that we are now establishing a hub in one of the world’s foremost innovation ecosystems. From there, we will build long-term relationships and foster close collaboration between Silicon Valley and Flemingsberg—both in person and digitally. This is about creating a lasting presence,” says Johnny Högberg, CEO of Flemingsberg Science.

As early as June, we will take the next step by hosting an event in Silicon Valley focused on how GameTech drives innovation far beyond the games industry—in areas such as AI, robotics, life sciences, health tech, and advanced simulation. The event will bring together stakeholders from multiple sectors to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

And this is only the beginning. Our ambition is clear: to strengthen Press Start and Flemingsberg’s position on the global GameTech and innovation map, while building bridges between local strengths and international opportunities.

Press Start is a GameTech initiative founded by the Flemingsberg Science Foundation and funded by Södertörn University, the municipalities of Huddinge and Botkyrka, Huge Bostäder, Hemsö Fastigheter, Fabege, and the foundation itself.

Where Campus Flemingsberg is your neighbor to the left, and a modernized shopping center your neighbor to the right. Too good to be true? Not at all!
