What is it that actually makes a company, research environment or organization choose to establish itself in a particular place? It is rarely just about premises or geography. Just as important are access to talent, networks, collaboration and a shared direction for the future. In Flemingsberg, a number of stakeholders are working together through Etableringskontor Flemingsberg to strengthen the area’s attractiveness and create the best possible conditions for future establishments. Inkubatorn är en del av ett europeiskt nätverk med elva universitet i elva länder och ger deltagarna tillgång till både lokalt stöd och ett internationellt nätverk av mentorer, experter och samarbetspartners.

A global innovation network with roots in MIT and Silicon Valley is coming to Flemingsberg. On October 3-4, students, researchers, entrepreneurs and developers will gather at Innovation Station to build solutions alongside participants from more than 65 countries. The initiative is led by the GameTech initiative Press Start and the life science initiative Life Science Cluster Flemingsberg, with the ambition of creating new bridges between Stockholm, Silicon Valley and some of the world's leading innovation ecosystems.

Recently, stakeholders from business, academia, and the public sector gathered for the Summer Breakfast event, “What’s Happening in Flemingsberg?”, to take the pulse of developments in the area.

A total of SEK 11.5 million is now being invested in the development of Press Start GameTech Hub – an initiative aimed at strengthening the GameTech sector in the Stockholm region. The project is led by the Flemingsberg Science Foundation and Södertörn University and will run from September 2026 to 2029.

Press Start, a GameTech initiative based in Flemingsberg, is expanding its international reach by establishing a presence and building new connections in Silicon Valley. This development is made possible primarily through our Cluster Manager, Leslie Alfredsson, who has been admitted to study at Stanford University this summer.

What if a game could help young people understand why they feel unwell? That was the idea that sparked something in Lars Klintwall, a child psychologist at BUP and associate professor at Karolinska Institutet. By combining psychology and games, he wants to shift the focus from diagnoses to the individual’s unique network of problems, and give patients tools to recognize how negative spirals emerge.

Flemingsberg is a place buzzing with knowledge, innovation, and optimism about the future. Here, residents, students, researchers, and businesses come together in a unique environment that combines world-class international research with one of the world’s leading university hospitals. But for a place to truly function, more is needed than workplaces and study environments—there must also be vibrant everyday meeting places.

Campus Flemingsberg remains one of Sweden’s most dynamic knowledge environments. Over the past year, the number of students has increased from 24,000 to approximately 27,000. The trend is clear: the campus’s broad academic profile continues to attract a growing number of students.
