Each event is designed to highlight the latest across a range of themes – from precision health to medtech, funding, and much more – with keynote speeches, workshops and exhibitions throughout the day. This time: Precision Health! 

Who is it for – and why should you attend?

This day puts the spotlight on precision health, offering a comprehensive view of the field – from research and innovation to health economy, infrastructure, implementation, and emerging trends. Designed for anyone working in or interested in precision health, the day brings together leading voices across academia, industry, and the broader ecosystem to share insights, perspectives, and practical takeaways for applying knowledge and solutions in practice.

The day includes inspiring presentations, panel discussions, and exhibitions, as well as time for mingle and networking throughout the day.

Christina Östberg Lloyd. Christina is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, senior life science executive, board professional and women's health advocate with more than 25 years of international leadership experience across clinical care, pharmaceutical development, innovation and governance. Her background includes senior roles at Novo Nordisk, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Pharmiva and former chair of Swelife, Sweden's strategic innovation program for life science. She is also Chair of VILDA, Women Leading in Life Science.

About: Precision Medicine Center Karolinska (PMCK) is a virtual center dedicated to making precision medicine a part of everyday healthcare. Our mission is to remove barriers and facilitate drive change to bring cutting-edge technologies to every patient, leveraging the unique collaboration between Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet.

Precision health applies a system‑level approach to care, increasing precision for individual patients while improving how interventions are delivered at a societal level. Advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) are a key driver of this shift, offering new treatment possibilities while challenging existing healthcare structures.

University hospitals play a central role in integrating precision health and ATMPs into clinical practice, supported by strong academic–industry collaboration. However, these developments also require new ways of working — including adapted regulatory frameworks, improved cross‑border processes for clinical studies, better access to data, and clearer coordination between national and regional actors.

13.00 Genomic Medicine Sweden – advancing precision medicine at the national level

Richard Rosenquist Brandell, Professor and senior physician in Clinical Genetics, Karolinska Institutet/Karolinska University Hospital, director Genomic Medicine Sweden

About: This talk will outline how genomic technologies has transformed clinical diagnostics and enabled precision medicine in areas such as rare diseases, cancer, and infectious diseases. It will describe the establishment of Genomic Medicine Sweden, including its regional Genomic Medicine Centres and the National Genomics Platform that will support secure data sharing across Sweden. Finally, the lecture will highlight key milestones, lessons learned, and future priorities for ensuring sustainable and equitable access to genomics-based precision medicine in healthcare.

13.20 Panel discussion – Health Economics

Precision medicine enables the delivery of the most appropriate treatment at the right time, based on individual factors such as a patient’s genetic profile, environment, and lifestyle. New advanced therapies are, in some cases, making it possible to cure conditions that were previously untreatable.However, these treatments may involve high upfront costs. Small patient populations in clinical trials, together with uncertainty around long-term effectiveness, make cost–benefit assessments more complex than for traditional pharmaceuticals. Welcome to this panel discussion exploring the health economic and broader socioeconomic considerations of implementing precision medicine.

About: Droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) has, over the past decade, become and established method in the clinical laboratory. Its ability to detect and quantify rare, patient specific DNA targets, such as cancer-associated mutations, has supported clinicians in selecting the right treatment for the right patient. In this seminar, we will highlight how ddPCR can also be applied in a screening-like approach, offering higher sensitivity, lower cost, and shorter time-to-result compared with NGS.

About: The European Commission is invention €200 billion in AI to strengthen Europe's independence and capabilities in the field. As part of this initiative, 19 AI Factories are being established to provide free computing capacity to innovative European SMEs across all domains. Petra Dalunde will introduce Mimer, Sweden's AI Factory, and explain who can receive support, what support is available, and how to apply and join the program.
