Nearly 100,000 people in Sweden suffer from Alzheimer’s. Globally, about 30 million people are thought to have the disease. There is still no cure, but research is approaching a point where new drugs may become crucial. AlzeCure is one of the pharmaceutical companies that has made the most progress.
Cellaviva: improving lives through stem cell technology
“Cellaviva was founded by researchers from Karolinska Institutet, in the belief that stem cells will revolutionize how complex and incurable diseases are treated. We are a biobank that helps expectant parents to save stem cells from the umbilical cord at birth, in a so-called family bank. The aim is to make high-quality, potent cells available quickly, if medical needs arise. This creates treatment opportunities and expands therapy options for the whole family,”
NextCell to treat type 1 diabetes in children with stem cells
NextCell Pharma in Flemingsberg has published extremely promising results from its clinical studies of drug candidate ProTrans for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. A study is now being carried out with the aim of examining its efficacy in children and young people.
Flemingsberg Science joins Swedish Incubators & Science Parks
Foundation Flemingsberg Science is to join the Swedish Incubators & Science Parks network, a collaboration that will accelerate the development of Flemingsberg’s internationally competitive innovation environment.
Flemingsberg middle school students learn all about coding
The “Kodkuporna” programme started in Flemingsberg in May, a project that gives children and young people the opportunity to try their hand at programming. Students from KTH and Södertörn University mentor middle school students from Vistaskolan in play-based learning.

📣24 hours before my new adventure at Stanford University begins, and this is how we wrap up before I go. 🥳With huge news from Press Start Game Tech Hub.
A total of SEK 11.5 million is now being invested in the development of Press Start GameTech Hub, an initiative created to strengthen the GameTech sector in the Stockholm region.
The project is led by Flemingsberg Science Foundation and Södertörn University, and will run from September 2026 to 2029.
I could not be prouder of how far Press Start has come in such a short time.
I was given the honor and the mission to found Press Start, and seeing it grow from an idea into one of Europe’s fastest-growing GameTech hubs has been one of the most meaningful journeys of my career.
And now, we are taking the next step.
Press Start now also has a GameTech Node in Silicon Valley, creating new opportunities to build bridges between Stockholm, Sweden, and one of the world’s most influential innovation ecosystems.
All with one clear goal:
To strengthen, support, and create real opportunities for our GameTech community in Stockholm.
What a way to close this chapter before Stanford.
