For the past ten years, NextCell Pharma has been developing cell therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, operating Sweden's largest stem cell biobank through its subsidiary, Cellaviva, and conducting five clinical trials. They celebrate this milestone by launching their third subsidiary, QVance.

Earlier this year we hosted the most meaningful ATMP event of the spring, in collaboration with Miltenyi Biotec and the Karolinska ATMP Center, Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet. We gathered over 120 participants, all sharing a vision of creating momentum to accelerate access to ATMPs in the Nordics.

Impact innovation is Sweden's innovation initiative for the 2030s. This week, the first five programs that have been granted funding for the next 10 years were presented, and we are pleased that "Shift2Access" is one of these programs. In 2023, the Flemingsberg Science Foundation initiated discussions with IQ Samhällsbyggnad, which works to make Sweden a leader in sustainable urban development. As a result, in the fall we signed a letter of intent to be included in the "Shift2Access" application, which has now been granted funding.

At the beginning of the year, we had the privilege of welcoming a delegation from England, with representatives from Innovate UK and eleven ATMP (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products) companies. This marks the beginning of a significant partnership with great potential to ultimately cure diseases that were previously incurable. 

Efter sina fyra år som dekan har Maria framgångsrikt satt KI Syd och Flemingsberg på kartan. Maria är en eldsjäl som med ett stort engagemang drivit fram KI Syd under de senaste åren. Nu när hon lämnar rollen som dekan på Karolinska Institutet reflekterar vi på stiftelsen Flemingsberg Science över alla framsteg och prestationer hon har uppnått.

Flemingsberg has been a pioneer in cell therapy in Sweden, dating back to as late as 1975. To highlight this and launch the new ATMP Flemingsberg initiative, Miltenyi Biotec and the Flemingsberg Science Foundation welcome you to the most important ATMP event of the spring: Trust the (cell manufacturing) process, on March 21 at Campus Flemingsberg.

It is with great pleasure that we embark on 2024 with a continued work according to the strategic goals that apply for 2022 - 2025, namely to become the obvious establishment alternative in southern Stockholm, to offer a world-class innovation environment and enable test beds for urban societal challenges.

Framvik is one of the latest members at Innovation Station Flemingsberg. It's a scale-up company that has gained recognition for its outstanding VR technology based on solid research and unique expertise. CEO and founder Maria Bauer shares their journey, a success story that has led them to become part of Flemingsberg's cluster of companies.

On February 9th, Södertörn University and Innovation Station will open their doors to a new concept that creates a meeting place for companies, students, teachers, and researchers.
